I needed a simple to install, simple to use Blogging tool for a new site. I found MyBlog all of these things. It's a bit annoying that you have to pay extra to add a comment facility to each blog entry but to be honest it doesn't cost that much and it works a treat.
Had one little question that was dealt with by customer services by going into my site, making the change then showing me how it was done. Not being an expert on code this was most appreciated.

The blog software is a great product, I deployed it on a school website where every teacher has their own individual blogs, was a breeze to setup and works like a charm. The frontend interface is great and super easy for the users to navigate and add blog entries.

I'm very pleased with MyBlog. It integrated easily into my site and once I figured out how to import posts from Blogger (which was difficult and time consuming), everything went great.
The front-end system works well, especially for people that may not be familiar with the Joomla! back-end.
Support is responsive and good. I had two problems that were taken care of within 24 hours each.
The only thing I am not happy about is the lack of a timestamp. Supposedly it'll come in a future version, but this could be a dealbreaker for some people.
Overall, a fantastic product that I didn't mind paying a little bit of cash for to get all of its features.

It was a little bit tricky for me, to find out how to realize different bloggs for each blogging Member, but i worked it out; its not so difficult i first thought.

I have been testing this out and so far find it to be very well thought out and implemented .
The only major drawback I've found so far is that it has its own built in tagging system but no way (none that I can see) to do the following:
1) Integrate with a site-wide tagging system
2) Tag outside the built in MyBlog editor
I suspect the best way forward for myBlog with regards to tagging is to make its built in tagging system a sitewide feature. I imagine that would involve developing a module that adds tagging options to the Joomla article editor, in the same way componets like JooTag do.
Apart from the tagging system requiring further expansion, myBlog looks like a great component.

Just a quick review. I spent ages and ages trying to get MojoBlog with no success so I finally purchased licenses for My Blog and jom comment. There have been issues with versions and issues with installation I admin but the guys at Azrul have been very very responsive and I am extremely happy with the component. I have it running on Joomla 1 and 1.5 sites in parallel with Jom Comment and it is intuitive, quick, attractive and functional.

I'm sure many of you have tried more extensions than you would care to admit as I have too. I mainly ran sites based on Wordpress before starting to build Joomla sites and I found Myblog/JomComment to be the ideal solution for me in order to integrate a blog component seamlessly. From Akismet spam filter integration, to RSS feeds, pinging social bookmarking sites, bookmark features, integrated videos of all sorts, an image browser, a tag system over to every module you need to display categories, archives, etc this component leaves little to wish for. Couple that with the best technical support you could wish for, you'll have no problem paying for this item.
This seems to be a company that's truly dedicated to delivering upon their promises and I can only highly recommend the company, their products and their team of dedicated support personnel.

I recently purchased My Blog for a writing competition site I'm building. What it has that no other component seems to have is a categorization feature and that is crucial to my site. I find the dashboard attractive and user friendly just as I'd hoped it would be.
I had a little trouble getting things up and running (mostly because of my own lack of know how) and their customer support rep made this product well worth the reasonable price I paid! This is what Joomla has needed for a long time. If you want to have a fully featured blog on your site then this is the component for you. As expected it integrates perfectly with Jom Comment to give the perfect solution for your site's blog.

This blog looks and works great with any 1-3 column layout, especially if mycomments is used too. Each posting is stored as an article which make things helpful for seo.
The only pitfall is if you always want to host many sites and buy new license fees each time. The licensing clause is hard to understand, probably even for a lawyer. I am not sure if you can use this blog for just one Joomla installation, one ip address, on host with dedicated ips or what?
If you want to run a many blogs on many sites with style, I recommend that you use a free script like wordpress and wrap it up. You will need to customize it which can be done in 10-20 minutes for anyone knowing their way around css, but, the burden of license fees are lifted.

Joomla always had problems with good blogging system.
So, MyBlog has a lot of things to be changed or released, but it's yet the most suitable blog component for Joomla!
I'd like to take author's attention on next things that needs to be changed or implemented:
- Video Mambot - please add possibility to embed direct video format like avi, swf, etc.. Not Google or youtube formats only!
- Audio embedding (we have already released this one in our project just modifying the code, but would be nice to see this ability in official release)
- Language compatibility - would be GREAT to keep all language strings in one file to avoid non Speaking people to pass a lot of hours on checking out all MyBlog files and find string that needs translation. I like CB solution: all text data keeps in one file.
- Privacy. Please add ability to make blog: for public, personal and for friends (CB integration concerning buddy lists (e.g. Friend, Co-Worker, etc).
- Tags cloud. It's not perfect yet. I'd like to see tags in not in alphabetical order, but in hits order (the most used tags should goes first) and also please make ability to change tags limit (10,50,100) through backend. Different tags font size is also appreciable.
- WYSIWYG editor. In current 1.2 version there is TinyMCE only. But would be good to use default Joomla editor as well. For example, JCE since TinyMCE is poor one.
It was my wishlist. ;)
So, despite of all these little ones MyBlog is still the best blog solution for Joomla and it's worthy of money.

I tried a couple other blogging components because I didn't want to spend the small price for this one. I finally gave in and paid, it was worth every penny. It did just what I needed, installed easy, and when I had an issue with the editor (which turned out to be a TinyMCE issue, not a myBlog issue) support fixed it for me right away. Best support I've had for a Joomla extension so far.

I suppose there are a few ways to skin the joomla-blog cat, from customizing the native section/categories to work in a more "Wordpress"-like fashion, to using any number of open-source extensions. Depends on your experience, the time you have, and what you need your blog to do.
Or you could just save yourself a heap of time and trouble and use this very excellent extensions. There's much to recommend it: the smart and inclusive integration with joomla and some popular 3rd-party extensions, which are thorough and simple to configure; very slick styling options, with graphics, templates and over-rides; a *really* nice front-end for blog-authors that works great on multiple browsers/OS. But the real advantage, as mentioned here, is the support. In a word it's excellent.
Not only is it obvious that development is active and user involved, but the team really makes sure your current install is working. There's a smart ticketing system, and they are quicker to respond than any other joomla developers I've dealt with.
This is the stuff that gives me great faith in open-source, commercial joomla development/support.

I do not know where to start my praises about this company.
The component installs easy, works great, and does a lot of things automatically. That alone would be reason enough to choose them.
But those guys also give a new definition to the words "customer service" and "tech support." Whenever you have to deal with them, you get a fast answer going right to the point and actually answering your questions. I know that should be the norm, but we all know it's not so...
Would I like to see them add more features? You bet. But as is, I feel that I am getting tons of bangs for my bucks.

I was tasked with testing out Joomla! add-on in an effort to determine which ones we'd "endorse" and support based on quality, utility stability. My mission was to seek out the best of the very best. Well after weeks of going through available extensions, some really good, but most just horrible, I'd come to realize why our customers were so frustrated. Poor documentation, compatibility issues, mysql issues, etc, etc
It took my almost two weeks to compose this review because I could not find the words that perfectly describes how magnificent this component is! I was totally blown away by how easy it was for a novice like me to install it, customize it & use it! Simply brilliant! Now a word about the support staff ... well several words. The Azrul Team are setting a new benchmark in World Class Support! Friendly, knowledgeable, responsive ... I could go on for maybe a month or more. I wish I could give them a perfect 10 rating! Very nice in terms of both use, look and support
Its easy to use, but using it with multiple users, it would be nice, if tags where userspecifik. As typical for many joomla omponents, the data in "user admin", like tags in this case, arevisible for all users. I belive 5-10 users would be enough to have far to many tags, so if a user had his own tag list, it would be great.
A small thing with adding photos: It would be nice, if it was done directly, instead of having to upload to a folder, and from there, put it in the blog.
Its also a bit annoying that a picture is included for counting characters to put in the introtext. So this have to be disabled for pictures not showing in the introtext, if they are within the numer of characters So these to things concerning photos, makes it unsuitable for "photo-blogging"
Translations are not all done in the langauagefile. I believe about 5-8 words are hiding around the files, but its my understanding, that the developers are working on this.
The support on Azrul are excellent. Whats not on the boards and knowledgebase, the supports can help with, and they are very quick and professional, even on sundays.

I only needed it for a simple blog and it works just great... well worth the money.

One of Joomla's drawbacks is difficulty in blogging easily, particularly if the end-user is not technically oriented and you want them to do everything from the front-end. MyBlog has a Wordpress-like interface that really makes things feel so much simpler. And when it's easier for a client to post something, they'll post more often.
Drawbacks: the styling is a bit complicated, but if you're familiar with HTML/CSS hand coding and you're used to building your own Joomla templates, you will have no trouble customizing the blog look on this.

I have used Azrul's JomComment for a fair while now, and its one of the first components I install on a new joomla install.
I was looking for a blog component for Joomla, and after checking out the rest, I opted for My Blog.
Its a quality component, integrates nicely with JomComment (worthwhile purchasing that as well, if you don't already have it) and the tags system they have is something that I'd like to see in Joomla as standard.
My only issue with it (and the reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5) is the templates that it comes with as standard need a fair bit of customisation to suit your template, especially if you use a dark template, for lighter templates, its not a problem. It was a bit of a chore editing it, and wouldn't be advised for novice users.
Overall, an excellent component, highly recomended.

I've only been using the product a couple weeks but it works fantastic. It installed easily and works great. I basically have a family website that I use primarily for a blog and pictures so this product really made it much easier for me to be efficient with my posts. I tried to use Joomla's "blog" page layout but that really wasn't that great. I tried a couple freebies and they weren't much better. I hesitated to spend money on something like this but in the end it was totally worth it and now I dont see how I could continue to write my blog page without it. Kudos to Azrul! Great compo. I also use Jomcomment throughout the site and it is a great product as well.

Lots of options and tweaks. All of them relevant for both the enduser and administrator.
I had a small bug with integration of video, but a superb support solved that very quickly and competent. Are Azrul ever offline?? Don't think so :D

I am still on J1.0.X and it's great they already support J1.5 and I will be able to use it when I make a transition later.
